Possibly most dangerous house around.......

Today to my horror......I payed my monthly visit to my nan's house, usually get bogged down having a cup of tea chat etc then it's time to go.....

Whilst she was on the phone I decided to have a little check of her electrics (as you do)!!

First of all she has a old wilex board, with a 1.5mm feeding her shower.....with no isolation switch, so straight from the board into the shower.....this was not the worst of it.....the cable has been cable tied to the cold water feed for the shower.....not to mention the cable is running infront of the tiles and clipped direct to the grout......I then had a look and there is no supplementary bonding whatsoever throughout the house.......then I check to see what system we have......Wait for it.....TT,

I asked when all this was done she said 20years ago, and some guy from out the paper done the shower about 10 years ago.........

Think it's time I rewired this place

I have the 2330
A diploma with highest honours in electrical engineering
The 17th edition
And the 2392

But still have not called myself a electrician and will not do untill I finish the

2391 then do the 2400 and gain at least a few more years experience.......

But yes for what I have got that I sure am shatted after this "7" week

Does it matter how he became qualified or what level he is at?

At least he has had a look and identified a potential hazard and may prolong his nans life!!

as stated get a qualified electrician to look at it not some cert gathering person

Lol why would I possibly do that when I have passed exams that have given me the knowledge to identify, design, install and test this??

I do it for a living so why on earth should my nan pay for a "spark" to come in and do it, just because I have made a couple of spelling mistakes on a touch screen phone!!

Hasel5 your comments on this thread have been unwarrented and unhelpful. The guy has come on here to share his story and maybe get some advice, not be mocked by you. Maybe if you have nothing constructive to say then say nothing. We all had to start learning somewhere. At least he has found the potential dangers and is now trying to put them right. With some help from members here willing to help he can make good and learn along the way.
