I use NYY pretty much exclusively for outdoor wiring unless there is a specific reason I need to use SWA. We're currently rewiring three outdoor gantry cranes at a local steelworks and except for the festoon cables for the crabs we're using NYY throughout with the odd bit of YY thrown in for good measure.

Go on then, mate; I've got to ask. Whereabouts is this steelworks in the Brighton area, as I just can't picture it?

Ok .. I can see you're clearly out of your depth here.

Maybe I should ask someone better qualified and with more experience - like maybe Eng56??

NO! I'm not out of my depth at all! The answer is 42 you ignoramus! Eng67 can't help here I'm afraid, he simply isn't skilled enough! :D

Exactly, who needs Eng66 (world cup year) when a 5 day wonder could throw the stuff in.

Seriously though, I do have a garage at the bottom of my garden that I'd like to get power to and I've spent the past 4 years thinking about the options - buried SWA, Flown SWA and just about everything else - including building a picket fence about 3 feet high between house & garage just to fix some sort of cable to.

I think I have now made the decision to use this stuff clipped to the rail of the fence which isn't made yet ........

Just got to do some thinking about 4mm or 6mm and exporting the earth .......whatever that means....... :freak:

We have a DFDS ferry leaves North Shields every day to Amsterdam. Do you think that would be ok to export the earth to and would it need to return?

Ahh! Steel stockholding and processing. Must admit, I couldn't recall seeing any blast furnaces around this end of the country.

Cheapest ?

Ive decided on armour :) I think , probably glanded into weatherproof boxes rather than conduit Ts

Looking forward to it ! pics to follow on FB.

Been funny start to the year, Rewires have actually been pretty quite , Ive completed 5 in January but a massive variety in other work!

On Monday, Im transporting 3 very expensive Italian chandeliers from one 1.5m house to another...

Been doing a lot of garden work/digging too!

Rewires starting to get back to full flow though, its been a nice change but Rewires = ££

Yep just stuffing glands...it's more expensive than armoured though even with glands...

Well it was a year ago when I last used it lol...

It is about 10p per meter more expensive than SWA but termination time is dramatically reduced!
