hope someone can chuck a few ideas on this one?

I have recently qualified and was helping a mate that has got a bar and he needed a few extra 13a sockets fitted. the feed is a 20 radial protected with a 20 amp mcb on the rcd side of a 18 way board (looks 16th edition). Its being fed by 6mm2 pvc T&E (from the consumer unit) then at the sockets its in 2.5 T&E. everything is connected up at the sockets and at the CU but the socket tester says no earth! And its the same for all the sockets connected on this circuit.

Just to make things worse the floorboards are covered in laminate and its just been done. Hes looking for a cheap and easy fix (arnt they all!!)

The building has been more bars and businesses than you can shake a stick at! every time someone new moves in they bodge a new this or that in and there are more spurs than the wild bunch!

identify the cpc at the CU. make sure it's not disconnected. wander lead from CU end of cpc and measure resistance to the nearest accessible point. if ok, progress along till you lose it.

I take it 'the socket tester' is not an earth loop impedance tester then?

Did you try 'the socket tester' on a known earthed socket?
