Hello.

I'm a newbie on this site and am writing for advice after a mostly fruitless search on Google.

I have purchased a new heating thermostat (Nest | The Learning Thermostat | Home), which is 24vac only. I plan to integrate this into my existing system using a step-down transformer for power, and a suitable relay for converting the demand signal back up from 24vac to 230v. This much is all clear.

I the US, there is a device called a "transformer relay" or "fan centre" that combines both functions, but is typically a US-centric product and are predominantly 120v parts (though 230v variants do exist).

My current plan is to install a small CU-like box with separate transformer and relay DIN-rail modules. I've not had much success finding suitable parts, and wondered if anyone had good (or any!) experience of this sort of thing?

At the same time, I'd like to integrate some timer units (same system, entirely different reason), like the MK5650s into the same CU. Ideally, I'd use all parts from the same brand, but the MK timers seem obsolete, and MK don't appear to make the transformer or relay.

Apologies for the long opening post, but thanks in advance for any advice.

Edd.

Thanks for this. I have found a number of parts on those sites. One revelation is that contactors come with 24vac coils, which I didn't know.

I take it that this isn't something anyone has direct experience of doing though, right?
