Finally given the green flag to come in here, sorry guys you'll have to put up with me.

So what panels are people speccing for the £7k system that seems to be the golden price at the moment?

In case any of you don't already know, i'm new to the business side of things although was installing last year before getting laid off because of the cuts. Since then i've been building a new business which includes (but doesn't rely on) P.V, partly due to the complete lack of jobs going and partly because if at all possible I don't ever want to be in the position where I am facing redundancy again!

Looking at the options for budget systems is giving me a headache.

Most are similarly specced, similar efficiencies, warranty etc

My take on it is who are going to be around in the future to honour the warranty should you need to use it?

Also a lot of the insurance schemes offered by the panel manufacturers look a bit, well, useless?

Looking at pvkitsdirect they push the ET solar panels out by the container load, but does it mean they are doing well, or selling at a loss and won't be around to honour the warranty?

Really, i'm after a bit of advice if i'm honest from you guys who have been in the business for a bit longer. If it's any odd's i'm in Devon so I don't think i'm going to be competing against many/any of you.

Appreciate some input, for the customers sake!

Cheers, Sam

Upsolar are pretty decent for cheap jobs. At the top end, REW don't get much of a mention.

What are peoples experiences with ET solar?

The hyundai's look like a good compromise with a name that people recognise also. I would have thought they will still be around in 5-10 years time, unless they segregate the company, can also be mounted on the short side too which makes them quite flexible and the black backed ones should suit most people.

We use Upsolar/Suntech/Yingli for cheap options, REC for our mid - I quite Like Hyundai but every man and his dog sells them and REC come out well on the Photon stats and Panasonic for top range but we haven't sold any of those since the cut in April.

I've used suntechs before, always seemed to do well. Also what are you opinions on Kinve?

This is what i mean about there being too many options. I'm happy to go with whatever the customer wants if they have their heart set on a particular product, but if i'm going to suggest a particular brand then I would like to be able to justify it. My justification would be based on the chances of the company being around in 10 years time I think, and also if they do them in a black finish because personally I think blue poly's with silver frames look awful.

try to stick to three panel types cheap med high

And offer two inverter to many choices lose you jobs

I stick with sunrech 250w then offer yingli 265w if customer looking for better spec or we only can fit 15 panel

i dont mention sanyo now

too much If some ask for sanyo I tell them to forget about them
