Hi,
A brief introduction. I live in Havana, Cuba and bathroom fans aren't easily available, like many things so I will buy them in Europe but they are 220v. I have 220v in my house in Havana for the a/c but the bathroom lighting is 110v.

1. Can I put a 110v relay in the lighting circuit that activates the fan on the 220v circuit?
2. Considering that the fan has a timer to keep it going what type of relay and what characteristics should the relay have?

TIA

Kerry

switched 110V to the relay coil, then use the relay contacts to switch the 220V to the fan.

As what Tel says. 110V coil and make sure the contacts can take the current that the fan circuit is fused to.

You will need to install a permanent 24/7 supply to the fan and just have the activation supply coming from it to the relay and back again to get the fan started, then you will be fine.
